“Nature Boy” Ric Flair! The stylin’, profilin’, limousine riding, jet flying, kiss-stealing, wheelin’ n’ dealin’ son of a gun is now in his mid-sixties… and is probably still wrestling somewhere. While he was the most decorated world champion in history, he was simultaneously the dirtiest player in the game, often cheating and purposely getting himself disqualified during championship matches in order to maintain his titles (because during typical matches, the champion retains his belt if he’s disqualified, and Nature Boy was the best at exploiting this loophole). Of course, everyone remembers when Kerry Von Erich beat Flair for the NWA World Heavyweight title, but then lost it back to the Nature Boy a couple of weeks later in a non-televised or filmed match in Japan. Personally, I’ve wondered ever since why the Japanese didn’t have a camera on hand a world championship match between these two superstars. Aren’t the Japanese known for taking pictures of everything?! Ugh! Regardless, to be the man, you gotta beat the man, and apparently Kerry could only beat the man once. Wooooo!
