Michael “P.S.” Hayes

In case you forgot what the “P.S.” meant, let me remind you: Michael “P.S.” Hayes was “Purely Sexy”. His feud with the Von Erichs began back in 1982, when Hayes was chosen as the special guest referee for Kerry Von Erich’s steel cage match with Ric Flair for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. During the match, Hayes managed to knock Flair out to help Kerry win, but Kerry refused to pin Flair, wishing only to win the belt by his fruition alone. This pissed the Freebirds off, so Terry Gory slammed Kerry’s head into the cage door and Flair was able to retain the title. For those of us who watched this betrayal take place, you understand how this moment sparked off some of the most legendary battles in the entire history of planet Earth. The Hatfields and McCoys no longer mattered. In the 1980s, the feud of the era was solely focused between the Fabulous Freebirds and the Von Erich family.

Everyone hated Michael Hayes and his damned Fabulous Freebirds and their stupid Badstreet U.S.A. entrance song…
